Fabulous All-Natural Healing Salve for Plantar Faciitis!

Fabulous Foot Salve
I have horrible Plantar Faciitis in my foot!  The kind that kills you every morning when you step on the floor.  Burning pain that makes it hard to walk!
What is Plantar Faciitis you ask? It is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a muscle-y tendon-y thing that runs the along the bottom  of your foot. When it gets torn, or over-used it makes it painful to walk. As we sleep, the plantar fascia tightens up and shortens. That is why it kills in the morning. It needs to be stretched out...all the time. What to do!
Well,  here are couple of things  I do that seem to help.
Stretching the calf muscles helps stretch the plantar fascia that runs along the bottom of your foot! Rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle really helps keep the swelling and inflamation down too.

Massaging the plantar fascia is also beneficial, which leads me to this fabulous foot salve!  I am an essential oil believer.  I use them ALL the time....every day!  I have been using
Spark Naturals  essential oils recently and think they are the purest, most effective oils I have ever used.
I have been using lemongrass oil on my foot for a few weeks and have noticed an improvement.  I thought to myself why not combine lemongrass, wintergreen, and peppermint together to make a nice rub for my foot. I had a fabulous recipe for the salve from one of my go-to blogs for essential oils, Camp Wander.
I used her basic recipe for the salve, but customized it for plantar faciitis.
It turned out fabulous!
It is an easy, effective, all-natural way to relieve the pain and inflammation of Plantar Faciitis. It smells really good as well.
Here is the recipe from Camp Wander with my additions !
Fabulous Foot Salve
1 cup coconut oil
1 cup Olive oil
4 T. beeswax pastilles  (Available from Amazon)
Melt the above together over low heat! Watch it all the time!
When all is melted, pour into (2)  1/2 pint jars and add to each jar:
12 drops lemongrass essential oil
12 drops peppermint essential oil
12 drops peppermint essential oil
Put on the lids and gently shake to combine.  Salve will harden and be ready to use in about an hour.
Massage into your feet morning and evening, taking special care to really work on the plantar fascia in the middle of your foot. If you flex your foot and gently bring your big toe back towards your calf, you can feel that tendon!
All the oils can be purchased from Simple Wellness.   If you are interested, "like" my Facebook page Simple Wellness

  1. Shelley, have you tried turmeric capsaicin for the inflammation? I found 2 capsules didn't do it for me, but 3 has been life changing!
